My favorite story from my Mother’s childhood was hearing about how she and her brother would “play funeral.” They lived across the street from a church. My Uncle loved to watch the funeral processions from the window in their railroad apartment and then reenact them.

My mom passed away from Alzheimer’s in 2008. For her 10th anniversary, I made this art piece to recreate that moment from her childhood. My Uncle is a funeral director who currently owns his own funeral home in Queens, NY.
